Yoga Generation is led by Davina Parkinson who has built up a wide experience with over the past 10 years, teaching a variety of students. Beginning her teaching career in 2000 with a “Gentle” class, Davina learned how to modify and personalize the poses to suit those with health concerns like back problems and reduced mobility. Since then she has sought out other teaching opportunities to expand her abilities with special emphasis on cancer survivors, seniors, and those with Autism and deafness. Davina has studied Iyengar yoga intensively for the past 13 years; seven years with Francois Raoult in Rochester, New York, and Mahyar Raz in Toronto for the last four years, as well as many visiting Iyengar teachers from around the world. She is certified under Yoga Alliance guidelines as an Experienced 500-hour Registered Yoga Teacher. She is currently studying to become certified as an Iyengar teacher by the Canadian branch of the worldwide Iyengar Association. Davina’s regular classes are focused on reducing the toll which modern life takes. All ages and abilities are welcomed. She tailors classes to meet the needs of her students : athletes who want to recover faster and reduce injury, those with widespread complaints like “computer shoulder” and stiff hips, and especially those who want to find a deeper connection with their body and inner selves. |
